The electric carmaker launched a service called "Tesla Direct", which is a door-to-door direct delivery service in California that was free for customers over the past weekend, and will likely be extended into next week.
Dozens of Tesla Model 3 sedans are reportedly being held in this Union Pacific freight depot in Salt Lake City. To quicken the pace of sales, the company is also offering $100 credits toward charging - or in some cases free charging - at Tesla's network of stations. As Tesla's volunteers aid the company in orienting large numbers of new owners with their vehicles, the demand for quality electric cars is becoming more evident than ever.
Tesla's conveyance volume is expanding so much this week as the organization endeavours to complete the quarter solid.
In a tweet, Musk wrote, "Wow, thanks for offering to help!"
Some news outlets interpreted the description as an indication that Tesla is building its own trailers from the ground up.
In the last quarter, Tesla said it produced 53,339 vehicles in the second quarter of the year.
In order to tackle the "extreme shortage of auto carrier trailers", Tesla has started to construct vehicle carriers itself, according to Autocar, as part of the company's logistics systems upgrade.
Musk won't be hand-delivering this latest round of Model 3s, however.
Tesla is even turning to its current Model 3 owners for assistance, asking them to educate new Model 3 customers by providing an overview of the features and functions of the vehicle.
Tesla owners can grant "free Supercharging for life" to a friend who buys a Model S, X or 3. Some owners say their referral code now gives a $100 credit. And with mere days left in which to get as many cars as possible into customers' hands before the end of the quarter, Tesla is taking a new tack.
Over the weekend of September 8-9, Tesla hosted an "exclusive delivery experience" at its Fremont hub.
In July, Tesla said net Model 3 reservations at the end of the second quarter were roughly 420 000.
"Deliveries should outpace production in Q3 as our delivery system stabilizes", Tesla said.
