A powerful typhoon blew through western Japan on Tuesday, causing heavy rain to flood the region's main offshore global airport and high winds to blow a tanker into a connecting bridge, disrupting land and air travel.
At least two people were killed as the storm disrupted land and air travel and left thousands stranded.
Typhoon Jebi landed with "very strong" force in Tokushima prefecture Tuesday afternoon, september 4, the strongest typhoon to hit the country's mainland since 1993, said Akihiro Kikuchi, from Japan's Meteorological Agency.
