Giuliani also said Monday that "the odds are against" a Trump interview with Mueller, but that he "wouldn't be shocked" if the President went through with it because he "wants to do it so badly".

Also, ousted FBI Director James Comey had said at a CNN town hall in April that collusion was "not actually a thing that exists under the federal laws of the United States", adding that conspiring with a foreign government to commit crimes against the USA was a crime.

Trump's tweet came hours before the start of a trial brought on by the special counsel against Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, who is charged with 18 violations of tax and banking laws related to his foreign lobbying work.

In subsequent interviews on Monday, the president's lawyer claimed that, in fact, he was only speaking off of as-yet unverified details from reporters who had contacted Team Trump to ask about the planning meeting.

The former New York City mayor told CNN weeks ago that Trump might be coming around on the idea that he should resist sitting down for a wide-ranging interview with Mueller.

Giuliani took to the airwaves Monday to keep up the president's attacks on Mueller, who is heading the Russian Federation probe, and faulted him for failing to publicly buttress Trump's position regarding a leaked recording of a tape between Trump and his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen discussing a payment involving a former Playboy playmate. "That's up to the president and Mueller to describe, it's not part of my legal representation".

Knife attack kills one Israeli, wounds two others in West Bank
Some 300 Palestinians - a lot of them assailants, Israel says - have also been killed in that period, according to news agencies. It came hours after Israeli tank and artillery fire in the southeast of the Gaza Strip killed and injured three Hamas fighters.

Giuliani also sent a message to Mueller: It's time for the special counsel to "put up or shut up". Giuliani said. "We have every reason to believe they don't have anything of the President doing anything wrong".

The message marked the first time Mr Trump publicly elaborated on prior vague claims of conflicts of interest. The (FBI agent Peter) Strzok report shows a guy off the wall who ran the original investigation hates Trump and claims he's not biased but he hates him.

He further revealed that he had a "conflict of interest" with Mueller, adding that the two had a "nasty business relationship" and that he had turned him down as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director.

Russian Federation has denied the finding of US intelligence agencies previous year that it interfered to sway the election to Trump.

Trump also argued Mueller could not be impartial in the probe because he worked for a law firm that had represented Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. "Then something happens. (Former Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen) gets raided".
