An independent report into the disappearance of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has found that hijacking can not be ruled out.

An independent investigative report released Monday offered no definitive answers about what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, but suggested that a third party may have played a role in its disappearance more than four years ago.

Questions remain over why it took hours for authorities to raise the alarm, and why they spent eight days looking in the wrong spot after the Boeing 777 disappeared on its way to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014.

Speaking to reporters today, Kok Soo Chon, chief inspector of the MH370 investigation team, said intervention by a third party couldn't be ruled out.

The recorded changes in the aircraft flight path following waypoint IGARI, heading back across Peninsular Malaysia, turning south of Penang to the north-west and a subsequent turn towards the Southern Indian Ocean were hard to attribute to any specific aircraft system failures. We are not of the opinion that it could have been an event committed by the pilot. At the time of the crash, the plane had been carrying 221 kg of lithium-ion batteries.

She said that the meeting between relatives and officials descended into a "shouting match" as family members' frustration boiled over.

This follows an exhaustive 495-page MH370 safety Investigation report which also detailed that the Malaysian air traffic controllers did not initiate the three emergency phases in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) in a timely manner. "It makes no sense if they (the investigators) say there are no hints as to what could have happened".

The family members were being given the official investigation team's report in the morning at the Malaysian transport ministry and were set to be briefed by officials, and it was due to be released publicly in the afternoon.

Ramsey in talks over Arsenal future
Atletico Madrid and Arsenal will face off in a pre-season friendly during the International Champions Cup on Thursday, July 26 . Speaking to Sky Sports, Ramsey said: "We'll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking".

'I have always said the most plausible scenario was murder-suicide and if this guy wanted to create the world's greatest mystery why wouldn't he have piloted the thing to the very end and gone further south?' Mr Abbott said.

Newly elected Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has said Malaysia would consider resuming the search for MH370 only if new clues come to light.

It too failed to find any trace of the plane and the search was called off in late May.

It was the second major search after Australia, China and Malaysia ended a fruitless $193 million Cdn search across an area of 120,000 sq km previous year.

For Jennifer Chong, whose husband Tan was on board the flight, she said: "To me, it is a helpless day as doors are shut". It says all the evidence points to a an incontrovertible conclusion - that it was under manual control, and that it was deliberately flown out into the Indian Ocean. It is believed to have crashed in the southern Indian Ocean, hundreds of miles away from its scheduled route.

Theories range from mechanical error or a remote-controlled crash, to more freakish explanations like alien abduction and a Russian plot.

Investigators highlighted some mistakes made by the Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City air traffic control centers and made safety recommendations to ensure such incidents do not occur again.
