Giuliani says Trump could soon decide on Mueller interview

Giuliani told Fox News the released audio of the tape is a "tape of a tape", meaning it's not entirely clear when the discussion between Trump and Cohen ended, whether it was cut-off prematurely or later altered.

The meeting, which took place in Trump Tower in June 2016, involved Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and a Russian lawyer tied to the Kremlin. The former NY mayor said in an interview late Thursday with The Post that Cohen "isn't credible at all, and there are witnesses who know what he's claiming isn't true".

Giuliani, who had once applauded Cohen for his honesty, was asked about his dramatic change in opinion of Cohen on "Fox News Sunday", and explained, "The man is a pathological manipulator, liar".

Giuliani contended that Cohen is obviously out to hurt his former client.

Mr Cohen's reported claim comes days after the bombshell release of a taped conversation between him and Mr Trump by CNN Tuesday - with reports suggesting there may be more tapes. On Wednesday, Trump expressed disbelief that Cohen would have taped conversations with him, a day after an audio recording of a conversation between the two men was aired on US television. The government has been totally ethical about this, ' Giuliani said. Trump's defenders have occasionally noted that the word doesn't appear in the criminal code - which is a misnomer - but Giuliani took it a step further: He basically suggested Trump would have had to pay for Russian Federation to interfere on his behalf.

Still, such testimony by Cohen, a longtime fixer for the former property developer and reality-show celebrity, would contradict the testimony and public denials of the president, his son, and other campaign officials who've repeatedly said the president wasn't aware of the Trump Tower meeting until more than a year later. Trump has denied knowing in advance about the meeting.

'There are then an untold number of other tapes.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said he thought the chance was "zero" that Trump Jr. did not take his Russian guests up to meet his father after the meeting.

Michael Cohen was not present at the Trump Tower meeting and has yet to offer any evidence to support his claim that Trump knew about it in advance.

Cohen has recently made a concerted effort to distance himself from Trump.

She noted that Giuliani called Cohen an "honest, honorable lawyer" on "This Week" in May.

"When it comes to Michael Cohen, you should be very suspicious of anything he says", Graham continued.

"These are tapes I want you to read", Giuliani said on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday. Trump tweeted Friday Cohen was just "trying to make up stories" to distract from his own troubles. "This nonsense needs to stop!"

Cohen did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

Giuliani says Trump's team wanted an interview basically limited to questions involving alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation in the 2016 election.

Giuliani said Saturday on ABC News that Trump's team has hired experts to analyze the recording. But he has strongly hinted he may help investigators looking into Russian election interference and links between Trump aides and Moscow.
