Embattled FBI Agent Peter Strzok Defiantly Defends Himself at Heated House Hearing

Strzok's statement also denied that political considerations have ever affected his official acts as an investigator.

"Like many people, I had an expressed personal political opinions during an extraordinary presidential election", he said.

"I will not, based on direction of the FBI. answer that question, because it goes to matters which are related to the ongoing investigations being undertaken by the special counsel's office", Strzok replied, at a joint hearing of the Judiciary and Oversight committees.

As soon as the questions got underway, the hearing devolved into a partisan verbal brawl as House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte struggled to maintain control of the crowded hearing room, which contained more than 70 members between the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees. Outgoing Congressman Trey Gowdy brought up that text and another in which Strzok said Hillary Clinton should win "100 million to zero".

"My presumption [was] based on that terrible, disgusting behavior that the American population would not elect somebody demonstrating that behavior to be president of the United States, " he said.

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page will be interviewed by two congressional committees this week, after declining to appear earlier this week.

Page and Strzok both worked on the FBI investigation into Clinton's emails and, later, on special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

Those remarks resulted in further interjections from Democrats, who said Gohmert was harassing Strzok and impugning the agent's character.

"I am particularly proud of the work that I and many others did on the Clinton email investigation".

He made clear his exasperation at being the focus of a hearing when Russian election interference had successfully sowed discord in America.

That's less than a similarly configured Surface Go , but the iPad comes with just 32GB of storage for the entry-level model. The price point, and likely discounts for bulk orders, are likely to make the Surface Go an attractive option for schools.

"This demand puts Mr. Strzok in an impossible position", Nadler said.

The 48-year-old longtime agent - who was removed from the Robert Mueller-led special counsel team investigating Trump following the discovery of the text messages last year - said Thursday that he never let his personal political views impact any of his official actions. Gowdy was citing derogatory comments Strzok made in text messages while working on the investigations.

"It was in no way, unequivocally any suggestion that me, the Federal Bureau of Investigation would take any action whatsoever to improperly impact the electoral process for any candidate", Strzok continued.

He will say that he has never allowed personal opinions to infect his work and that he knew information during the campaign that could have damaged Trump but never contemplated leaking it. In it, Strzok describes his reluctance to work on behalf of the special counsel, and that seemed to imply he didn't think there would be substantial findings of collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign team.

"Of course I do", said Peter Strzok.

Just as sacred, said Peter Strzok on Thursday in the halls of Congress, was his own right to curse the president of the United States and the odours of the Americans who love him, even while heading the investigation against him.

Jeffress accused the panels of using unnecessary "bullying tactics" to push Page into an interview immediately, especially when "she has offered to voluntarily appear before the committees later this month".

The Justice Department's inspector general has criticized Strzok and Page for creating the appearance of impropriety through the texts.

Former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom told FOX Business that the "lies" perpetrated by FBI agent Peter Strzok are consistent with the lack of leadership exemplified by the agency's former director, James Comey.
