Austria Calls on Iran to Lift Immunity of Detained Diplomat

The Trump administration's demand that all countries quit importing Iranian oil outright starting in November won't just be a tough sell diplomatically - it also threatens to derail the USA administration's own effort to push down high crude prices. However, sources said the government was yet to take any decision on cutting oil import from Iran, as the US had demanded, when its United Nations envoy Nikki Haley visited India last week. Turkish officials told Foreign Policy Tuesday the government had no reaction yet to the new USA demands. USA officials also warned that other countries would face sanctions unless they stopped doing business with Iran.

They also said the Petroleum Ministry has not decided on cutting oil import from Iran.

The signatories to the deal, minus the United States, have been working on a ministerial meeting in Vienna for weeks and the date has slipped several times since preparations began.

A number of foreign firms have already announced they would cease their Iranian activities in light of the looming imposition of sanctions.

The United States has told countries to cut all imports of Iranian oil from November and is unlikely to offer any exemptions, a senior State Department official said last Tuesday as the Trump administration ramped up pressure on allies to cut off funding to Iran.

Government officials called speculation over the cancellation "unfounded".

Then on Friday in the Austrian capital, Iran's foreign minister will meet the top envoys from the five powers still party to the JCPOA - Britain, China, France, Germany and Russian Federation - according to Iranian state media.

Japan fall short to exit World Cup in cruellest fashion
The semifinal would seem like a decent upgrade on the quarterfinals of the last World Cup and Euros and so far they started well. De Bruyne advanced the ball with a lovely push, making a ideal lead pass to Jan Vertonghen with room to run.

Since President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw in May, calling the agreement deeply flawed, European states have been scrambling to ensure Iran gets enough economic benefits to persuade it to maintain the nuclear curbs required in the deal.

MP Assadollah Qarehkhani was quoted by media as saying that a special committee had been formed in the Parliament that would deal with bartering oil with goods, adding that this was meant to help Iran overcome the impacts of upcoming USA sanctions.

Tehran announced on Wednesday that it will buy goods only from those nations which purchase Iranian oil.

India is an oil-dependent country and will act what is in its national interests, they said.

"Our goal is to increase pressure on the Iranian regime by reducing to zero its revenue on crude oil sales", said Director of Policy Planning Brian Hook.

"For now, that's the plan", an European Union source said.

"At the meeting, which will be held at the request of Iran, foreign ministers of Iran and five world powers will discuss a proposed European package and measures to protect the agreement", Iranian state news agency IRNA reported on Tuesday. "The Iranians expect the others to say what we are going to do to keep the deal alive". Saudi Arabia is planning to push up oil production to record levels of about 11 million barrels per day starting in July, Reuters reported Tuesday.
