Shoppers on Instagram are now redirected off-app to a business' website to process any payments.
A sample of businesses in the United Kingdom and the U.S. are now accepting in-app payments for services, such as booking restaurant tables or taking hair appointments, without needing users to leave the app.
If you use Instagram, you must be well aware that the service doesn't allow links in the caption. With in-app payments, Instagram is one step closer to becoming the leading online shopping platform it always aspired to be. According to pictures doing the rounds on the internet the payment settings options will be rolled out under the profile where one can add their debit or credit card information and verify it by using their respective pins.
TechCrunchreports, this new payment feature allows users to purchase the items within the Instagram app.
But from now Instagram will accept payments in the app itself, which means you can directly make a purchase on Instagram. We have come across several reports of Facebook testing to bring the payments feature to Instagram in the past.
The feature, as of now, is only available to a few users in the USA and UK.
The function has started to pop up for some in the United Kingdom and U.S., prompting speculation that it is part of a test run for a future global roll-out. This feature conforms to that plan but also adds native payments to make the experience more seamless.
