French President Emmanuel Macron Urges 'De-Escalation' Between Israel, Iran

Iran forces in Syria 'shell Israeli military in Golan Heights' Israel Claims Iranian Missiles Struck Golan Heights, Prompting Retaliation

Britain has condemned Iran's attacks on Israel and called on Russian Federation to use its influence in Syria to stop any further attacks.

In a bilateral meeting after the celebrations, Netanyahu said that Israel has the "obligation and right to defend itself against Iranian aggression, from Syrian territory. The US supports them and will support any action aimed at self-defense".

Israel said 20 rockets, either Fajr or Grad type, were fired from Syria at its forces in the occupied Golan Heights at around midnight. Four of the rockets were reported to have been intercepted by Iron Dome anti-missile systems; the other apparently fell short landing in Syrian territory.

The Russian military has claimed that Israel fired more than 70 missiles at Iranian facilities, adding that more than half were shot down by Syrian air defences.

Israeli tanks are seen in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, on May 9, 2018.

In response to Iran's attempt to bomb some of its military sites, the Israeli military has destroyed several Iranian posts in Syria.

The tension between Iran and Israel has been building up in Syria in recent months following the consolidation of the Iranian presence in Syria, including the statements by various pro-Iranian militias that they want to confront Israel. But it seemed to carefully calibrate its response by targeting the Golan Heights, which Israel annexed in 1981 in a move that is not internationally recognized, instead of striking Israel proper.

Egypt follows with great concern developments of U.S. withdrawal from Iran deal
And many conservatives believe the Obama administration's Iran deal did far too little to forestall Iran's nuclear dreams. Trump has consistently been a harsh opponent of the Iran deal, calling it "the worst" and "defective at its core".

Overnight Tuesday, Israeli forces apparently carried out an attack on a Syrian military base.

The Jewish state says it has conducted dozens of raids in Syria to stop what it says are advanced arms deliveries to Iran-backed Hezbollah, another key foe of Israel.

"The Israeli army carried out an extensive attack against Iranian targets in Syria".

Israeli Minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman directly warned Tehran of any future attacks on the Golan Heights hours later, saying "If it rains in Israel it will pour in Iran".

The Israeli strikes are likely the largest in Syria since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

While Israel and Bahrain do not maintain official relations, the two countries interests have increasingly aligned as the Iranian threat to the Arab Gulf states has grown. Israel responded by attacking anti-aircraft positions in Syria, but an Israeli warplane was shot down during the battle. He added that "ground assets were also used to strike into Syria". Iran has vowed retaliation for an earlier alleged Israeli strike that killed a number of Iranian personnel.

The attack on Israeli forces sparked the furious reaction of MP Yair Lapid, who was furious at the European Union for allegedly "appeasing" Iran to secure a deal on the country's nuclear programme. "It means we are on a collision course".
