Mike Pompeo, now the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, testified in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today as President Trump's nominee to be the next secretary of state.

"There are few who dread war more than those of us who have served in uniform", added President Donald Trump's nominee.

Despite several Democratic attempts, Pompeo also repeatedly declined to weigh in on Trump's repeated denunciations of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

"Your views do matter", Booker argued.

"I spoke with special counsel Mueller, who interviewed me", Pompeo said in his testimony before the committee, which is considering his nomination.

Speaking on April 12 during his Senate confirmation hearing, he also revealed that he had been interviewed by the USA special counsel investigating interactions between Trump's associates and Russian officials.

Pompeo: Senator, I think I said this to Sen. "This decision has the potential to make a dire situation even worse". Unlike his predecessor, Rex Tillerson, he has the disposition for this work, and that's an important asset.

Pompeo also agreed with Gardner that the US needs to sanction countries or companies that trade with North Korea.

Are you supposed to talk to them, what do you say, can you do work, can you talk on your phone, et cetera. The two companies will also be working together to offer the integration to new cities around the globe.

Last month, Dawud Walid, the MI executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), called Pompeo a "conspiracy theorist and a known anti-Muslim bigot". "President Trump isn't one to play games at the negotiating table, and I won't be either".

But in excerpts released Wednesday by the White House, Pompeo says that while Tehran has paid "too low a price" for its behavior, Pompeo and Trump are prepared to revise the nuclear deal "to fix its most egregious flaws". Cory Booker (D., N.J.), Pompeo dismissed the suggestion that he would have any bias against Muslim officials at the State Department.

In particular, Booker grilled Pompeo on whether Pompeo has referred to gay sex as a "perversion" in past speeches.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo is testifying before the Senate right now, and not only said he opposed same-sex marriage but refused to say if he believes gay sex is perversion.

"My respect for every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, is the same", Pompeo told Booker and other members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. "Millions of Americans voted for Trump because he said we'd come home from Afghanistan". Vladimir Putin has not yet received the message sufficiently, and we need to continue to work at that.

Dubbed the "congressman from Koch" when first elected in 2010 for the size of the donations he took from the oil billionaire brothers, Pompeo has made a point of questioning the link between global warming and burning fossil fuels. Pompeo will face a battery of questions not only on matters of diplomacy, but also on whether he is willing to stand up to the president.

"I've seen no evidence that they are not in compliance today", he told the committee.

At his hearing today, Director Pompeo confirmed the IAEA assessment that Iran is in full compliance with Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action - yet, he supports continuing President Trump's risky proposal to unilaterally withdrawal from the agreement and has advocated for unilateral military action in the past. He's also spoken to all eight living former secretaries - including Hillary Clinton, whom he famously criticized over the 2012 attack on USA facilities in Benghazi, Libya.
