On the worldwide front, the report kept the global growth rate projections at 3.9 per cent for this year and the next that was made in January.

The minister noted through its social media that "the external surplus and low inflation" had a positive impact on sustainable growth for the coming years.

The IMF statement said the Crown's fiscal position was strong and "provides space to accommodate the needs from strong economic and population growth", with increased spending on infrastructure able to be ramped up further if a bigger-than-expected tax take turned out to be structural.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised down real GDP growth forecast for the UAE to 2 per cent for 2018 and 3 per cent for the next year.

Overall, Mena is forecast to grow 3.2 per cent this year as compared to 2.2 per cent in 2017. That's very close to the three percent forecast the Trump administration promised.

International Monetary Fund noted that said Saudi Arabia and some other oil exporters in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa have experienced recessions and/or substantial growth slowdowns in recent years as they started adjusting fiscal policy to the permanent loss of commodity revenues.

But IMF chief economist Maurice Obstfeld said those effects will fade quickly, causing growth to slow in subsequent years.

Facebook CEO Zuckerberg's Compensation Up By 54% In 2017
Facebook said in a statement that the security measures were quite important due to Zuckerberg's position within the company. Facebook gets some data on non-users from people on its network, such as when a user uploads email addresses of friends.

It also says interest rates may need to rise more quickly than expected if excess demand emerges, which would stress highly indebted countries, firms, and households.

During his three-day stay in Washington, Ismail will also meet senior U.S. officials in an effort to improve economic ties with the world's largest economy. Over the medium term, global growth is projected to decline to about 3.7% due to a shift toward inward-looking policies that harm worldwide trade and a potential further buildup of financial vulnerabilities that could give way to rapid tightening of global financial conditions, it warned.

"The need for fiscal consolidation as a result of structurally lower oil revenues, security challenges, and structural impediments weigh on the medium-term prospects for many economies in the region", the report said.

The IMF said prospects for developing economies to grow per-capita incomes face difficulties over the next five years, especially in commodity-exporting countries in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

He said the recent tax reform in the USA will make things worse, stating "we now expect the U.S. current account deficit for 2019 will be roughly $150 billion higher", as a result of the tax and spending changes introduced earlier this year.

This means that the United Kingdom is no longer expected to be the weakest of the seven major industrialised economies this year or next, with both Japan and Italy growing at a slower rate.
