Cuomo, in what he called a cease-and-desist letter to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement acting Director Thomas Homan, expressed dismay over a recent spate of raids by federal agents that he called "reckless and unconstitutional enforcement actions".
Arrests Cuomo cited as possibly illegal included one made on a dairy farm, one in a private residence and one targeting a local immigration activist.
John Collins said the agents who entered his farm in the Town of Lee did not identify themselves or produce a warrant before they arrested farmhand Marcial de Leon Aguilar on charges that he unlawfully re-entered the USA following several previous deportations.
"We believe ICE is violating the law and endangering public safety", said Cuomo.

"This is about politics", Cuomo said. "We can not allow these illegal raids to continue".
