Three package bombings in Texas 'related'

3 Austin Package Bombings May Be Connected in Possible Hate Crime Spree Police in Austin search for motive after string of explosions leave 2 dead, 2 seriously injured

As hundreds of thousands of visitors are swarming Austin for the annual South by Southwest festival, which began on Friday (Saturday NZT) and runs through Saturday (Sunday NZT), police said they had linked the three package bombings - raising fears that someone is trying to terrorise the Texas capital during the city's biggest event of the year.

The teenager died at the scene and a woman in her 40s was taken to a nearby hospital following an early morning attack in east Austin.

Two people have been killed: The first blast killed 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House on March 2.

"We can not rule out that hate crime is at the core of this, but we are not saying that that is the cause", Manley told a news conference. Officials say it exploded when she picked it up. The second explosion injured a woman in her 70s, according to media reports. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

The explosions came as Austin, a metropolis of two million people, welcomed some half a million attendees from almost 100 countries for the massive entertainment and media festival South by Southwest.

After two more explosions on Monday, House's death was reclassified as a homicide and added to the broader investigation. Guerrero says he climbed onto his roof where he could see police walking up to one of his neighbors' homes. "The cops were running and telling everyone 'Get out of the house!"

"Enjoy yourself, have a good time", Manley said. There is now no description available of a possible suspect or suspect vehicle.

Manley warned residents that if they see a suspicious package to call 911. They also said her mother, Maria Moreno, was hurt.

Yogi Adityanath: BJP getting widespread support from people
The RJD is trying to retain its Jehanabad seat which fell vacant after the death of its MLA Mundrika Singh Yadav. After casting his vote in Gorakhpur , Mr Adityanath said the BJP was getting widespread support from the people.

Chief Manley said one of the residents had taken a package from the front porch inside and it exploded when they tried to open it in the kitchen.

Police had initially described the March 2 blast that killed House as "suspicious" but likely "an isolated incident" that posed no ongoing danger to the community.

"I want to assure all Texans, and especially those in Austin, that local, state and federal law enforcement officials are working diligently to find those responsible for these heinous crimes", he said.

FBI teams are investigating along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

BE THE FIRST TO KNOW: When big news breaks, we send Breaking News emails. "The substantial security operation already in place for SXSW has been instructed to be extra vigilant". Instead, they appear to have been left on doorsteps of homes. The man had received a delivery at his home in the northeast section of the city. Two occurred Monday and one on March 2.

The Washington Post reported that the families of two victims knew each other.

Whether the victims were targeted: "The evidence makes us believe these incidents are related", the police chief said.

Police say their investigation of deadly package bombings at two Austin homes will try to determine if a hate crime was involved because the victims in both cases were black.
