International Women's Day is more than a date for self-congratulations on past achievements; it is a date for men and women in the state of SC to pledge their commitment to change and promote gender equality. Who are the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood?

International Women's Day has been around for 106 years, but this year might be it's strongest ever in promoting-with the goal of attaining-female equality, in part because of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements that started here in the US. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women's network or media hub is exclusively responsible for International Women's Day.

What is International Women's Day?

Mlambo-Ngcuka said: "What we see today is a remarkable gathering of strength among women all over the world, demonstrating the power of speaking with one voice".

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, in a statement on the occasion, said: "We are at a pivotal moment for women's rights".

Mohammed Shami denies match-fixing allegations made by wife Hasin Jahan
Meanwhile, the other charges leveled by wife against husband Shami are voluntarily causing hurt, attempt to murder, rape etc. She has alleged that Shami is a womaniser and that his family tried to kill her before.

She noted advocacy was necessary until all the barriers which denied women equal opportunity and mobility in the workplace and the labour market were eliminated. Many have also used the day to further draw attention to the wage gap, while others protested photoshopping and unrealistic standards for women created by society.

"From restaurant crew and management to our C-suite of senior leadership, women play invaluable roles at all levels, and together with our independent franchise owners, we're committed to their success", she adds.

She believes "decades of work that have happened have mainstreamed International Women's Day in a way that makes (organisations), whether they are companies or state agencies or NGOs, recognise that this is a day to affirm not only women's empowerment but also the continued struggle that remains around very key issues".

According to the World Economic Forum, equality right now is actually in retreat, and it will take another century for both genders to stand on equal footing. In fact, 1.7 billion women in low and middle-income countries around the world remain unconnected today.

"We are encouraged because a lot of our energy, time, and budget goes into changing these laws, and to supporting the implementation", she says.
