On the day after the budget, upset TDP leaders had gone into a huddle with party chief and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to decide on whether to continue their alliance with BJP or chart their own course. On Friday, Naidu stated that the centre had given menial treatment to Andhra while earmarking allocations in the budget. He wanted all the MPs to be part of the protest in Parliament for the cause of AP.

Modi also made political comments of how Congress party "insulted" Andhra leaders such as Neelam Sanjeev Reddy, Anjaiah and how the TDP was born with NTR as the leader.

TDP members protested both inside the Parliament and outside and even boycotted both houses warning that if their demands were not met, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have to face consequences.

Many members in the Well were holding placards with slogans such as "Save AP Save Democracy", "Follow Alliance Dharma Now" and "We demand Special Status for AP state".

The funds will be tagged for specific projects that the state has argued have been pending despite assurances in the past. The Prime Minister told YS Chowdary that he would discuss the same with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and come back to them, the sources added.

The Lok Sabha Tuesday saw lawmakers of the Telegu Desam party and the YSR Congress, both arch-rivals in Andhra Pradesh, coming together to demand concessions for their state. They made a decision to stay on in BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) but also assert pressure on the government by using the Parliament to raise their concerns. He asked them to chalk out plans to get the maximum benefits from the schemes announced by the Centre for all the states.

BJP president Amit Shah had reportedly also dialed Naidu and asked him not to make any hasty decisions. Naidu said that the TDP is surly over the stepmotherly treatment of the BJP. Three TDP MPs, including Ramesh, rushed to the Well of the House protesting against inadequate allocation for Andhra Pradesh. However, the MPs were tight-lipped as to what transpired in the meeting.
