Michelle Myers, the woman in question, has never left the United States, but somehow she can uncannily speak in a posh British accent and lingo. After blinding headaches she has woken up with different accents three different times in the past seven years.

She told ABC Arizona: "They send in the psychiatrist at the hospital and make sure you're not a loon". With such a rare condition, many people are quick to judge and label her as "crazy" or "faking" the fact that her speaking mannerisms changed so drastically after she fell asleep with a headache.

Rather than picking up the accent while studying overseas, the mum of seven suffers from a rare medical condition diagnosed as Foreign Accent Syndrome - a condition usually associated with neurological damage.

"Everybody only sees or hears Mary Poppins", said Michelle Myers, a mom of seven who lives in Buckeye.

Myers also suffers from Ehlers-Danlos, a condition marked by elastic skin, extreme flexibility in the joints and possible rupturing of blood vessels.

She's loves spending time with her seven kids, listening to them sing and play instruments.

Two years ago she went down with a crippling headache and woke up with a Cockney accent she's had ever since.

According to the University of Texas, Foreign Accent Syndrome is "a speech disorder that causes a sudden change to speech so that a native speaker is perceived to speak with a foreign accent and is most often caused by damage to the brain caused by a stroke or traumatic brain injury". Talking with foreign accents have had notable effects on her well-being, as a crucial part of her identity goes through a frequent flux.

"It's such a rare condition that neurologists don't believe that this is a real condition", Toby Yaltho, a neurologist at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Neurology Associates, told ABC in 2016 after treating another case of FAS.

She's not insane, she just suffers from a rare condition. Her British accent shows no signs of going away, and she hadn't been able to break through it on her own.

"I'm sad", she said, watching an old video of her speaking normally.

And Myers is exhausted of people not taking her seriously. "The person that I am now have been through a lot".

"Some people think it's physiological; others think it's psychological", Myers was quoted as saying in the report.

She continued: "At first, they thought I was just joking around, because I am a amusing person". She said she stays positive, but she wants people to take her seriously.
